Purpose
The purpose of this policy is to define the qualifications for MAUVSA flagship events–MAUVSA Advance Conference (MAC)–in terms of current status with their school and VSA. This policy establishes the ruling for distinguishing between alumni and student status within the current space.
Scope
This policy involves and applies to the following parties in relation to the MAUVSA Advance
Conference (MAC)
- Undergraduate College Students: This policy defines ‘Undergraduate College Students’ as individuals actively attending a college/university in pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree.
- Graduate Students: This policy defines ‘Graduate Students’ as individuals actively attending a college/university in pursuit of a Master’s/Doctorate degree.
- Alumni: This policy defines ‘Alumni’ as individuals who have since graduated from their college/university (holding a Bachelor’s, Master’s, and/or Doctorate degree) and are not actively pursuing further education.
- Former College/University Affiliated Individuals: This policy defines ‘Former College/University Affiliated Individuals’ as individuals who are not actively attending a college/university, but were a student during their initial involvement in MAUVSA or their local VSA as an attendee or staff member.
This policy is structured as follows:
- Eligibility for a general attendee for conference
- Eligibility for an alumni programming attendee for the conference
- Eligibility for staff and executive team members for conference and/or leadership
Details
- Eligibility for General Attendees for conference: People qualified to attend the conference as attendees are undergraduate college students and/or former college/university affiliated students who maintain the status of member within their own VSA. If an individual who intends to attend MAC does not pass the verification of their status with their university and their VSA, MAUVSA holds the right to cancel their ticket and offer a full refund.
- Eligibility for Alumni Programming Attendees for the conference: Members of MAUVSA who are qualified to attend the conference as alumni programming attendees are those who are no longer in pursuit of a further college education and have obtained a diploma for either their undergraduate, graduate, or doctorate (i.e., Alumni). Individuals who are considered to be graduate students are qualified to attend conferences as a part of alumni programming. NOTE: Members of MAUVSA who are current undergraduate students who are 21 years or older may choose to participate in either the general programming or alumni programming at their discretion. NOTE: If you have been to MAC once, you can attend alumni programming.
- Eligibility for Staff and Executive team members for conference: Members of MAUVSA qualified to apply for conference staff, executive, and volunteer positions have no limitations on their status during the application process, however, all individuals seeking higher leadership for conference positions must complete an interview during designated times.
- Any requests for exceptions to the current policy must be submitted via email to eboard@mauvsa.org for the MAUVSA Executive Board to approve under their reasonable discretion.
